Cornerstone History
In May, 2000, The First Missionary Baptist Church of Redlands, CA, obeyed God's call to plant a new church in Wisconsin. Sonny and Kari Hyde, along with two other families, agreed to relocate to Reedsburg and establish Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church.
For two years, this small group of believers held Bible studies and worship gatherings in their homes on a rotational basis. As word of this new church spread, the number of people attending increased to the point where a larger setting was needed. They moved to a local conference center for a time, and also met in the Seventh-Day Adventist facility as attendance continued to grow.
With the assistance of its sending church and other partnering churches, Cornerstone eventually entered into a purchase agreement for the property at S3111 Ableman Road. Renovations to the lone structure on the property (which is currently the Fellowship Hall) began in July, 2002. God continued to bless Cornerstone, and in 2004, the property was completely paid off. Then in 2006, the decision was made to build the worship and educational facility that is now considered the main church building.
Prompted by the Spirit of God, the members of Cornerstone took a step of faith and sent two families to Sun Prairie, WI, to plant another new church. NorthCity Baptist Church was established in 2012 and is flourishing under the direction of Chris Bocklage and Joe Copeland.
As God leads, Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church will continue to share the message of Jesus Christ in Reedsburg and the surrounding area.
